Hi! We are Evan and Andrea and we want to start off by thanking you for your strength and courage, as it is reflected in your decision of considering an adoption plan for your child. We can’t imagine how difficult this process is or the fears you may have. We are humbled that you would consider us in your adoption plan.

After many different attempts to grow our family over the last seven years, we’ve come to a place where we know without a doubt we were meant to adopt. We’ve grown so much through the hards seasons and found that from the challenges of infertility, we grew closer together and became a better team. Because of this, we believe it will help us to be better parents.

Our hopes to adopt don’t come from our infertility, but rather knowing we were meant to be parents. We simply had to travel down roads we didn’t expect, but found that those roads have brought so much joy to our lives. We trust that God has a plan for us and that creating a family through adoption is part of our life path.

Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

Fathers Day 2023

06/27/2023

This past Father's Day was terrific because we spent it with Evan's father and step-mom. They drove their truck and camper from Montana to visit us. This has become a yearly tradition on Father's Day and has been something we look forward to all year long. This past visit, we played lots of cribbage and backgammon, had a bonfire, ate amazing food, and baked Evan's grandma's molasses cookies, which are our favorite. It was so special, and we cherished every moment we could since the trip always goes too fast. Evan's parents have always been extremely supportive, loving, and there for us along the journey to grow our family. We are so thankful for them! This picture was taken in our entryway. Evan's parents brought their black lab, and I'm thankful I quickly snapped a picture of the cuteness overload with the three pups, Evan and his father.

First Bloom!

06/27/2023

I'm happy to report that my dalias are growing fast and are starting to produce flowers. This was my first bloom. It's a blush pink dahlia and one of my favorite flowers that comes up each year. This past year I decided to buy a variety of dahlias to add some variety to my garden. I'm hoping for a variety of white, yellow, peach, orange, red, pink, and maroon dahlias this year. I'll keep you posted as they start to bloom!

Grandma Visit

06/27/2023

Over fathers day, my(Andrea) grandma flew up from Florida to visit for two weeks. It was so great to see her and spend some quality time with her. She is extremely silly and is still sharp as a tack. This is a picture of us trying to give her a pedicure at my moms on their back deck. My mom was teasing her, and I was able to capture the funny moment.

Visiting Little Sister

06/27/2023

I, Andrea, had a break between semesters recently and was able to visit my little sister in southern Indiana. We had too much fun visiting a greenhouse, making bread, and spending time together. This is a picture of me desperately trying to get my nephew to sleep...which he refused. Haha. It was still relaxing to sit with him on this large swing and get quality time with him. I'm so thankful for my little sister. She is so creative, kind, goofy, and has such a green thumb. I'm always learning so much from her.

Evan and I have talked about making birria tacos for a while and decided to give it a try. Evan is an amazing cook and always takes his time when preparing a good meal. We had a blast cooking together and loved how the tacos turned out. Cooking is still one of our favorite things to do together. I'm so grateful for Evan's love of cooking and his adventurous spirit with food.

Summer Flowers

05/23/2023

My favorite time of year is when it gets warm enough to plant my dahlias. These flowers take patience because they need most of the summer to produce blooms, but they are absolutely beautiful and worth the wait. This picture shows the beginning stages of these flowers. They are pretty tall already because I started growing them in my house in March so I can have more time with my flowers this summer. I'll post a photo when I get my first bouquet. I think I enjoy flowers so much because they remind me of my mother. We grew up planting long rows of flowers, and I've always enjoyed making bouquets from them. In fact, my mother still plants rows and rows of gorgeous flowers(MUCH MORE THEN ME). She inspires me to enjoy nature every day.

Mothers Day

We are grateful to be able to celebrate our mothers this Mother's Day. Both our moms have always been great places of support for us, continue to love us well, and always show up for us in ways that are unique to them. We know that our lives wouldn't be as rich without them. We are blessed to call them mom. This is a picture of Evan's mom and the last time we visited Montana.

Summer Project

05/22/2023

Recently, I volunteered to help keep bees for a neighbor who hurt his shoulder and couldn't take care of his five hives. I've always wanted to learn how to keep bees and jumped at the chance to help. The first time was intimidating, but my neighbor was so helpful in explaining everything that goes into taking care of a hive. I have much more to learn, but I'm excited to see how this summer goes with the bees.

Building Shelves

05/22/2023

I am always amazed by Evan's ability to create something from nothing. He decided to insulate the garage this spring and figured while he was at it, he should build shelving to make the space more organized. I left for a few hours and came back to this. Evan is so creative and also practical. I love this about him.

Easter 2023

04/09/2023

This Easter, we had a great lunch get-together with our family. The weather was wonderful so we decided to do a scavenger hunt for my nephews. They figured out all our sneaky clues and found every treat we hid. One of the best parts was time with our youngest nephew, Dominic. He's the sweetest little guy and is always smiling. He loved watching his older cousins find all the treats, while he was happy to play with the little plastic eggs.

Back To School

05/22/2023

This past year I, Andrea, returned to school to get my Masters in Recreational Therapy. It has been challenging but amazing to return to school as a more mature adult. Learning this time around has been much more enjoyable. I feel more invested because it is a field I love but want to learn more about (since I currently work as a Recreational Therapist in behavioral health). I hope to become a professor at one of our local universities and have some job opportunities on the horizon after graduation this coming summer. This experience has taught me so much. First, education is so important, all types of education. It has also been a great reminder to do things that challenge us, even when we are scared. Evan has been extremely supportive and encouraging along the road too, which has helped me to feel capable as I took on new challenges. I can't wait to see what lies ahead, but it has been a great adventure thus far.

New Hobby

04/03/2023

This spring, a friend brought us over some sourdough starter. As someone who loves trying new things, I was excited to make sourdough for the first time. The first loaf was one of the best loaves I've ever had. I couldn't believe it took me this long to learn how to make it. I always felt intimidated to make sourdough, but it turns out it's not super hard to make. Evan has joined in on the fun and has helped me in the kitchen while making sourdough. We recently made sourdough popovers, which turned out amazing! All this to say, I can't stop making bread, and my family and friends are happy with my new hobby.

CA Family Trip

12/08/2022

This winter, we took our first-ever family trip instead of visiting either Montana or Michigan. Evan's mom turned 70 and wanted to do something a little different so she suggested we visit San Diego, California, for a long weekend. The weather was beautiful, and we had fun exploring the city. The highlight of the trip was visiting the San Diego Zoo. We walked around the zoo for about 6 hours and couldn't get enough of seeing all the animals and exhibits. It was a wonderful family time. We made meals together, played card games, and my nieces loved when I gave them riddles to figure out(since I used to work at a camp, I have a lot of tricks in my back pocket). We are already talking about our next trip.

Christmas Tree 2022

11/20/2022

Every year, since I can remember, my(Andrea) family would go to our aunt and uncle's tree farm and cut down a fresh Christmas tree. There, we would go on a horse-drawn hay ride, drink cocoa, and spend time with our cousins. Since my relatives no longer run the tree farm, we were hunting for a new tree farm that could become our new tradition. Last year we found a local, family-run tree farm in our town. After we bring our tree home, we usually put a video of a log fire on the tv(to make it cozy in our home) and start decorating. This year we brought both of our dogs, and they had a blast sniffing around all the trees. It was a fun, chilly, and sunny day. And while we are pretty early setting up our tree, as it's not thanksgiving yet, we love having a tree up in our home.

She fell asleep the second we got in the car to drive home and slept the rest of the day from all of the fun she had. We are grateful to have people that care about the things that matter to us.

Evan

11/16/2022

This was a picture of Evan living in Montana when he was a little guy. He has always had a love for nature, specifically when it comes to fishing, mountain climbing, and mountain biking. He still goes out fishing as much as possible each fall, as Michigan has some great fishing rivers. I think enjoying fishing says a lot about a person. You must be patient and appreciate slowing down to enjoy this sport. These are some of the things I love about Evan. He is SO patient, really good at seeing situations from all sides, fair, thoughtful, has a great heart, is generous, wise, and a wonderful partner. I'm grateful for him. I'm also so excited to see him as a father because I know he will be the BEST dad. He has so much to teach a little one and so much love to give. I can already see him taking a little one out to learn about fishing, biking, and how to have a great adventure in nature.

Summer Fun

10/19/2022

A few years back, we accidentally found this beautiful national park campground in the upper peninsula. This has become our favorite camping spot on a bay with a long beachfront. Since it's rustic, there aren't many people that camp there, which makes us feel like we are on a private beach for the time we are there. Our dogs love this spot because they have full access to water from sun up to sun down. When we camp, we make a point to make big breakfasts and dinners over the fire each day and play card games when it gets dark. We also love the pace of going up north because it gives us a chance to enjoy the sun, hike, read and have some quiet, as the campsite is far from the main road. Evan and I always leave this camping trip filled up.

Fall in Montana

05/22/2023

This fall, we were able to visit family in Montana. We had a lovely week visiting Evan's mom, dad, step-mom, and Evan's twin sister, her husband, and our two nieces. One of our favorite moments from the trip was going rock climbing with our nieces. Evan has been a rock climber for many years, so taking the girls along was fun. Nora, our oldest niece, started rock climbing this past year. It was amazing to see how fearless and strong she is. I love watching Evan with our nieces and nephews. He is so kind, thoughtful, patient, and a great teacher. This is a fantastic sport and one we hope to introduce to a child someday.

Family from Montana

06/26/2022

We were fortunate to host Evans dad and step-mom this last week. They started visiting Michigan around fathers day a few years back and now it is a yearly tradition we look forward to. We have had many fun moments this last week. We went to the lake shore to play in the water with our dogs, went to a local baseball game, golfed, saw the movie Maverick, made amazing food together, had bonfires, played card games and had lots of time to chat. Since Evan's family live in Montana, our in person time together is something we dont take for granted.  A few things we love about Curtis, Evans dad, is his sense of humor and his heart. He is always joking around and being silly but at the same time is a brillant man who loves reading and Jesus.  Pamie, Evan's step-mom, has the biggest heart and has supported us in every season of our life together. She used to be a pastor and is very wise, intentional and playful. We are grateful for the love and support they've given us throughout our marriage and the adoption process. They will be the best grandparents when that time arrives!

Spring in MI

Ever year my mom, sister and I take a trip to Countryside Greenhouse to pick out our spring flowers & plants. This is my mom's favorite time of year because she has a green thumb and a deep love for nature. We had a great day of browsing for plants and going out for lunch to catch up. I was also able to get my dalhia bulbs in the ground(about 20 plants). This is a yearly rhythm that I look forward to the most because while it takes a while, I love watching my flowers grow through the summer until late fall. One thing we hope to inspire most in a child someday is a joy for the outdoors. Whether it's gardening, hiking, camping or a bonfire, we make it a point to get outside as much as we can with our family and pups.

Andrea's February Birthday!

Evan and I have birthdays and a wedding anniversay between February and March every year. We have a lot to celebrate in the chilly months of the year, which is a fun while waiting for spring weather. Each year the person who is being celebrated decides how they want to spend their birthday. For me, I made my favorite homemade cinnamon rolls while Evan made an amazing breakfast for us. I also requested to play the board game Sequence, go on a winter hike with our pups and watercolor paint. It was a fun weekend full of celebration and time together. I am grateful for the partner I have in Evan. He is extremely thoughtful and willing to go out of his way to make my birthday special. I love that we have this tradition in our family. We both feel it is important for every member of our family to feel important and FULLY celebrated on their birthday.

This week we had a blast celebrating my youngest nephew, on his 8th birthday. We went to a winter tubing park and ended the day with a great dinner, presents and birthday cake. We've cherished the roles of being auntie and uncle to many little people, as our friends have a lot of children, as well as our biological nephews and nieces. Birthday's are important to our family. Not only is it a day to celebrate the birthday person, but it is also a day that we all take time to share with the group what we love so much about them. This tradition started years ago and continues to happen with each passing birthday.

Christmas 2021

I'm sure we could all share how good and hard this year has been. While there were challenges, we like to end the year with identifying the blessings, the good, that came from the year. Evan and I both agreed that one of the best parts was growing in our marriage, even with the rough terrain of covid and how it impacted everything. We found more reasons to tuck in at home, cook more, enjoy nature, play games and try to appreciate the little things. I feel that our intention and appreciation has grown from this last year of life. I know this is something that we will teach a child some day. To appreciate the little things, to have adventures no matter how life is going and to find reasons to celebrate.

Fall Harvest 2021

10/18/2021

I, Andrea, was raised in a small town where my parents grew a large hobby garden every year since I was a child. There I learned the joys of growing many different types of veggies, berries, flowers, and more. This became a passion of mine as I became an adult and had more of an interest in cooking. When I look back, I realize how much was instilled in me through working with my family and siblings in the garden. I learned how to celebrate with cooking(all of my siblings and parents are excellent cooks!), and how to really enjoy the effort that goes into making a good meal. I learned about nutrition, and how to grow food, which is empowering. There have been countless memories of talking or laughing with my mom(the woman in this photo with me) as we picked veggies, or admiring my dad as he invented a new way to do something in the garden(he is extremely creative). And the great part is, it wasn't always "work." One of my favorite memories is when we kids began to have an epic tomato fight where we ran around the yard tossing tomatoes at each other. I remember laughing...

We painted, practiced deep breathing, spent time in nature, journaled, worked with plants, and so much more. The students did a fantastic job, and I was thankful for the opportunity to teach them. I hope to teach this class again in the future. The picture provided was taken when I had my students paint terracotta pots to later plant succulents in. We talked about how plants support their mental health, and I was fortunate to have a hundred+ succulents donated by a greenhouse. Thankfully, the students LOVED painting their pots(and were all super artistic!) and working with the plants provided.
